Rebecca McBride, DVM, MS, DACVIM (Neurology)

Board-Certified Veterinary Neurologist & Founder, Pons Veterinary Neurology

Dr. Rebecca McBride is a board-certified neurologist and neurosurgeon dedicated to providing compassionate, high-level care for patients with complex neurological conditions. Originally from Long Island, NY, Dr. McBride’s journey into veterinary medicine began with a childhood spent caring for rabbits and later working on the dairy farm at the University of Vermont, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude.

Dr. McBride has cultivated a deep expertise in advanced neurosurgery. Her primary clinical interests include:

  • Spinal Stabilization: Specialized techniques for Wobbler syndrome, LS disease, and vertebral malformations.
  • Chiari-like malformation: Comprehensive management of Chiari-like malformation and sryingomyelia (formally called COMS).
  • Advancing Neurosurgery: Developing and implementing innovative surgical techniques to expand treatment options and improve outcomes for complex neurologic conditions.
  • Education & Collaboration: Advancing veterinary medicine through teaching and collaboration with primary care veterinarians, technicians, and fellow specialists.

A Personal Connection to the Craft

The name of her practice, Pons, is more than just a neuroanatomical term; it was the name of her very first dog, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel she adopted during veterinary school. This personal connection drives her empathy for both the patient and the client during what is often a stressful diagnostic process.

Life Outside the Clinic

Dr. McBride is a devoted advocate for the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel breed. In her spare time, she volunteers with Cavalier Rescue USA and enjoys training her three dogs—Mac, Althea, and Tully—in agility, nosework, and obedience. She lives with her husband, Dr. Daniel Lantz, and their two cats, Rosita and Yasmine.

Sarah Guy, CVT

Lead Veterinary Technician

Sarah Guy brings a unique blend of educational expertise and high-level clinical skill to her role as Lead Veterinary Technician at Pons Veterinary Neurology. With a background rooted in both the humanities and veterinary sciences, Sarah is dedicated to bridging the gap between complex neurological medicine and compassionate patient care.

Life Outside the Clinic

When she isn’t managing the clinical floor, Sarah is an avid athlete who enjoys playing softball, golf, and competitive darts. At home, she is a “cat mom” to Ellie and River. River, who lives with Cerebellar Hypoplasia, serves as Sarah’s daily inspiration and a living reminder of why specialized neurological care is so vital to a pet’s quality of life.

Sarah as a Leader

As Lead Technician, Sarah ensures that every patient referred to Pons receives meticulous monitoring and that every referring veterinarian receives clear, professional communication. Her background in education makes her an invaluable resource for pet owners navigating a new neurological diagnosis. Likewise, she is also focused on inspiring her team to pursue life-long learning as a means to ensure that they, too, experience the joy and satisfaction of this special career caring for animals and their families.
